What is a Lutheran?

Lutherans get their name from Martin Luther, a German priest who was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church in the early 1500s. Luther's writing and teaching sparked the Protestant Reformation.
The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases:

Grace Alone: God loves the people of the world, even though we are sinful, rebel against Him, and do not deserve His love.

Scripture Alone: The Bible is God's inerrant (without error) Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ.

Faith Alone: Jesus' suffering and death is the substitute for all people of all time. He purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for all. Those who hear this Good News and believe it will have the eternal life that it offers.

Trinity Lutheran Church is part of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod.

God's Word

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

- Romans 1:16-17

All Christian education at Trinity Lutheran Church complies with the Lutheran Confessions.

Drawn from God’s Word, the Lutheran Confessions are a true and binding exposition of Holy Scripture and serve as authoritative texts for all pastors, congregations and other rostered church workers of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

Practice

Holy Communion

  • Holy Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions teach that in Holy Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are visiting, please speak with the pastor before communing.

Holy Baptism

  • Holy Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions call Baptism a second birth, the creation of a brand-new life begun in Christ which reaches its fullness on the day of resurrection.
  • Baptism is not just plain water, but it is water included on God's command and combined with God's Word. By preparing to bring your child to be baptized you are taking the most important step in raising your child in the Christian faith.

Holy Absolution

  • Private confession and absolution can be arranged by appointment through the church office.
